Past, Present, and Future Paper

University Of Phoenix

GEN 480

March, 31st, 2012

My college life began in 2001 after I graduated from high school when I started attending ITT Technical Institute. I obtained my general education credits but it took me many years due to crazy work hours. I wanted to obtain my bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and the University of Phoenix ended up being perfect for my busy work schedule. This paper will explain in three parts the reflections of my growth during my college experience and how it has affected my future learning and development.

Part 1: Reflecton where you were in your personal and professional life when you started at University of Phoenix.

After I finished high school I was very much interested in computers. I attended ITT technical Institute and obtained my associates degree in computer networking in 2003. I was happy that I had finished but was unable to get a decent paying job. In 2003 I started attending Pima Community College when I took all of the general education credits that I would later transfer to the University of Phoenix. It took me roughly 7 years to get all my credits due to working 50 hours a week almost constantly plus taking care of my family. It took me a long time but late is better than never.

The most important skill that I can take from the University of Phoenix is professionalism. Combined with my volunteer experiences with the Pima County Sheriff Auxiliary volunteer program I have taken leaps and bounds in my ability to be professional and deal with people more easily. I have also learned how to solve problems logically using problem solving methods. Just as important I have honed my skills of written and the ability to work well with others. In order to be effective in my future career in law enforcement these skills are a must.

Part 2: Evaluate the growth you experienced during your program of study.

My experiences during college have shaped me much more than I ever...
