Introduction

This report seeks to recommend an effective control system to monitor the performance of the students. As the United World Business School is a new private institute who is providing diploma and degree programs in Singapore, so generally there is a need for a control system to monitor the student’s performance, and there are three different types of control system, like market control, clan control and bureaucratic control. I will further elaborate the different types of control system in the later part of the report, types of control and from there I choose which type of control system(s) that is most suitable for the school to monitor the student’s performance.

Different types of Control System

As mention in the introduction, there are three different types of control system; they are the market control, clan control and bureaucratic control. Different types of control system serve different purposes.

Bureaucratic Control

As from the word bureaucratic, a bureaucratic control involves a set of rules and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that shapes and regulates the behavior of divisions, functions and individuals. Rules and SOPs guides behavior and explains to the students on how to handle the problems that needs solutions. It’s the responsibility of the program manager or the lecturer to set rules that allows the students to be able to concentrate on their studies when they are in school. There are four major steps for bureaucratic control, as shown in Figure 1.1:
