Effective Teams Assignment

MGT 245/ Organizational Theory and Behavior

What is a team? A team is a group of people coming together to collaborate-to reach a shared goal or task. A team is a group of people with a high degree of interdependence, geared towards the achievement of a common goal or completion of a task. Team members are deeply committed to each other's growth and success. Team members share in planning, organizing, setting goals, developing strategies, and more. Team members work together by helping each other in success or failure of a project. In order to be successful, a team must be enthusiastic-it's contagious! A team must have a purpose, keep members informed, grow together, and celebrate achievements (Lompa, 2008)!

I included the following people on my team because I felt that their abilities were better fit for the task that we had to complete; although, after I finalized my selection Sarah strongly disagreed with whom I had picked. This did not bother me though, because I knew my team was solid, and that it would all work out in the end. A famous author, Bill Bethel, once said, “A successful team is a group of many hands but of one mind (Khurana, 2009).” The help I enlisted was from the following people and what positions I designated each of them:

Petra- Assessor and Adviser

Maria- Controller and Organizer

Amrita- Creator

Harvey- Linker and Producer

Marcell- Promoter and Maintainer

I chose to leave out both John and Janice because I felt that they might overwhelm the team. Moving on though, yes, I believe that these people were the best matches available for each role. However, Sarah would have left out Maria and Harvey and included John and Janice instead. I made these choices because I felt that they fit the descriptions of the jobs better than another candidate had.
