List 4 Conf. of WWII

1. (1941) The Washington Conf.- Roosevelt and Churchill.

Decision: The battle would be won in Europe first then in Japan

2. (1942) The Casablanca Conf.- Roosevelt and Churchill.

Decision; The allies will only accept unconditional surrender.

3. (1945) Yalta Conference- Roosevelt, Churchill, Stalin

Decision; Soviet Union can keep the half of Poland annexed in 1939, in exchange for entering the war in Japan, 90 days after the end of war in Europe.

4. (1945) Potsdam Conference- Truman, Churchill, Stalin

Decision:The U.S. would use the A-bomb against Japan. Germany would be divided into 4 parts. The Eastern Side- was the Soviet Union side, and the Western side was the U.S. , British and French side.

List and Explain the 3 “R’s” of The New Deal program.

1. Relief- Give the people food- clothing and provide a shelter

• The Emergency Relief Administration (TERA)- give food and blanket.

• The Home Owner Loan Compensation (HOLC)- Purchase home mortgages to help pay debts.

2 Recovery- Put people back to work. Give farmers a market.

• National Recovery Adm.(NRA)- Give business a loan to re-open

• The Agricultural Adjustment Adm.(AAA)- Make a market for farmers.

• The Works Progress Adm. (WPA)- Supply public jobs, public works, public buildings.

3 Reform- Make sure there never is another Depression by the use of Gov. control.

• Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC)- Banks must submit to Gov. regulation

• The Securities & Exchange Corp. (SEC)- regulate the stock market

• The Social Security Adm.(SSA)- provide a pension for retired workers.

1. The New Deal kept the nation from going to socialism, Fascism, or Dictatorship. The U.S. remained capitalist and democratic.
