Optimists versus Pessimists

In our life, people are divided into two different types in term of how they are thinking. One type will be optimist and the other side is pessimist one. When we compare and contrast both side, we will have some similarities and some differences.

The first difference is how optimists and pessimists encounter their problem, their feeling about the failure they face. Optimists will think their problems come from external, not from themselves. The problems happen because of the fate that make the misfortune happens at the moment. On the other hand, pessimists tend to blame themselves since they feel problems happen from internal. They feel they are the cause of all the problems.

Following how they encounter their problems, another thing matter is how they solve the problems. After optimists encounter a problem, they will solve the problems by making another plan. They will do their best to overcome that problem. While the pessimists, mostly will stuck in that problem. They do not see that there is another possibility to conquer that problem.

Optimists and pessimists view about setback differently too. Optimists tend to see setback as temporary thing so it still can be changed. On the other hand, pessimists mostly think that problem cannot be changed, it is permanent. When a pessimist failed at their business, they will be down and think there is no other way to make it right. In optimists’ case, even their business failed one hundred times, they will try again with another plan.

The last difference is how they view about success. Optimists think that their success is based on their ability; while, pessimists think that their success is based on luck only. Optimists believe that they are successful because they have competence in that field; people choose them based on their capability. Pessimists believe that success is not because they are capable for that work, but it is just a lucky thing that they got that job.
