Critical Thinking Application
Critical thinking is important in people everyday life. Critical thinking affects the way people do their jobs, the way they think, and the decisions they make. In the workplace critical thinking is a must to make the right decision for the success of the company. Understanding the importance and the benefits of critical thinking will give the knowledge of the meaning to succeed in a business and personal circumstances (Hoopes, 2012). The writer will share personal experiences from her critical thinking process to work-related decisions and will discuss the benefits, process, importance, examples, and the outcome of the results.
Decision-Making
Authors Scriven and Paul describe the meaning of critical thinking very well in their class summary: “Critical thinking is the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, evaluating information gathered from observation, experience, communication, reasoning, or reflection as a guide to belief and action” (Scriven & Paul, n.d., p.1). Critical thinking is vital component of defining the decision-making process and making the best decision in any situation. People who understand and use the components of critical thinking will make clear and sound decisions. There are nine steps to a decision-making model; relevant in the critical thinking process. Define the task, selecting criteria, rating and ranking, creating application forms, applicant self assessments, review process, compiling the results, presenting the results, and making a decision. The nine steps are split into three phases that the writer will utilize in her process of her critical thinking situations.
