“Cultural theory strengthens the expectation that markets work, not because they are comprised of autonomous individuals who are free of social sanctions but because they are powered by social beings and their distinctive ideas, beliefs, values and knowledge” (Bank, 2008). It can contribute to understanding and promotion development where group relationships predominate and individualism is tempered. Some criteria that you would want to look for when you are looking at cultural theory is the type of people, their habits, beliefs and their social life (Marshall, 1998). The film Fight Club and the novel Fight Club have the same cultural theory but a little different way of being told.

Fight Club produced by David Fincher and Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk is about a young business man who suffers from insomnia. He goes to the doctor to let him know he is suffering but the doctor tells him he is not suffering he needs to check out the support groups at the church because they are suffering. Once he goes to the support groups he finds a way to let himself go and cries which helps him sleep. Later, there is another fake person Marla who attends the support groups. Since he knows that she is an imposter he is no longer able to cry and let it all go, leading back to him not being able to sleep. The narrator meets Tyler Durden on a plane back from his business trip. Tyler is a soap salesman. The narrator comes back to his apartment from his business trip to find his apartment has been blown up. With no one to call he turns to Tyler. They meet at a bar and when they are leaving Tyler said that in order for him to stay at his house you have to hit me first. They continued to meet there to fight and every week it grew to be a complete success. This is how fight club was started. With it growing so big it was an underground fight club and there were rules, “First rule of fight club is not to talk about fight club, second rule of fight club is not to talk about fight club”....
