Global Communications Situation Analysis and Problem Statement

Due to the increase in communication competition Global Communications is forced to redesign how they offer services to their consumers. The good old days when consumers would have individual companies for his or her communication needs such as television, internet and home telephone are extinct. While the transition into a “bundle offer” company is the right move the actions to transform will create challenges and opportunities all in the same motion. Global Communications needs to be aware of the current situation’s impact on the local and global markets as well as the impact of outsourcing their domestic call center.

The progression of this paper will describe Global Communications current situation, identify challenges and opportunities, desired end state goals and measures, and develop a problem statement that creates opportunities.

Situation Analysis

Global Communications situation is like many other organizations. Organizations get to a point when they have to evaluate current practices and decide whether to continue on the same path or implement a new strategic plan. The new strategic plan for Global Communications is to increase profits and create their company as the industry leader, locally and globally. As described in the company profile “Stockholders are bemoaning diminishing returns and speculating about the industry’s ability to rebound. Understandably, telecommunications companies are under tremendous economic pressure and Global Communications is no exception. Three years ago, its stock traded at $28 per share; today, the stock is valued at $11, more than 50 percent depreciation (2004, para. 1).”
