The boiled frog phenomenon actually uses a business metaphor. When a frog drops into boiling water, he can jumped out immediately; however, if he is placed in boiling water and the temperature is turned up slowly, he will not be able to jump because the water will boil to death. In strategic management, this phenomenon will be used to discuss its issue on many business operators. Basically, the frog will be used to identify the tendency of management to maintain by doing necessary changes so it can addressed business changes and risks. Based on the frog, individuals will remain in their comfort zones; otherwise they will have a strong issue not to; in business, reacting will remain slower to minor issues that will lead to a downfall (Pollard, 2004).

Today several of us wonder why this frog did not jump out of the pot. After all, he didn’t have any barriers between him and his life. The reason why he didn’t jump out because of his threat sensing capability that is generated from unexpected changes gradually. His survival threat was underneath his ability to use the changes. There was a whole inference among this frog’s metaphor on companies who was identifying its threats on our survival at an early stage, but we still have time to plan it than react to a serious threat before it is too late. The company must learn how to reduce their threshold changes so they can identify little changes that occurs in their environment.

An example of boiled frog syndrome would be Enron. In 1990, the organization’s CEO was providing many product plans that required major financial support. The organization also handled major international business issues at the time. However, they were financially unstable because of the issues on the product plan. They had to resolve problematic matters and support business plans in order for the company to implement different strategies, but...
