Hypothesis Identification Article Analysis

The article for review is a research on communication involving children and adults with a severe intellectual and developmental disabilities. The hypothesis formed by (Brady, Fleming, Thiemann-Bourque, Olswang, Dowden, Saunders, & Marquis) “can a scale be developed and reliably implemented that reflects differences in levels of presymbolic and early symbolic communication attainment” (2012). The team also will answer if such a scale could be used with a variety of population from the early youth to older people with severe disabilities as well as how it compares to other existing measures of communication. The term “presymbolic” is the cursory of disabilities discussed. Presymbolic refers to all the forms of communication individual progresses through life. The group of researchers created the Communication Complexity Scale (CCS) and tested 178 individuals with a variety of communication skills. The CCS scores obtained met the expected array with important correlations with more...
