CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
This chapter contains the introduction of this research, background information, statement of the problem and objectives. It also contains research questions, significance of the study, limitations and scope of the study and conceptual frame work.
1.1 Background Information
Sai Rocks hotel opened its doors in early 2006, introducing level of facilities and standard hitherto unknown at the Kenyan coast. The hotel very soon established a reputation locally and overseas as the prime resort of the area. The hotel opened with a bed capacity of 104 beds in 28 deluxe rooms and 22 executive bedrooms with a penthouse overlooking the sea.
The resort has become a leading social venue on the north coast, whether for the gala, dinner or just an intimate dinner for and the ideal place to study for business travelers. It is also famous for hosting conferences, cocktail parties, outside catering services for family gathering.
Sai Rocks resort hotel is located in north coast, Mtwapa, Mombasa district, 15kms from moi international airport and five kilometers from Mombasa city centre. The hotel is located in a 10 acre plot of beautiful landscaped gardens, swimming pool and a floating bar on the side.
The hotel mission is “a home away from home”. The hotel provides hospitality service to guest both locally and from overseas, giving them value for their money. It is an incredible romantic paradise on the sparkling Indian Ocean. The hotels vision is to be the best hotel in the north coast region and the coastal region at large.
