INTRO

Since boyhood Rizal knew the value of good education. Rizal believed that the nation's freedom and welfare was anchored on the enlightenment of its people. Rizal’s ability as a teacher was a revelation when he was exiled to Dapitan by the Spanish authorities. As a teacher, he valued inclination and aptitude.

SECOND SLIDE:

Dapitan witnessed one of the most fruitful years of. Particularlly as an educator. His letters to Blumentritt gave details about his routines. His students were the first hand witnesses of his way of teaching where some became much reknown. This all proved that Rizal served as an educator…

THIRD SLIDE: December 19, 1893

During the early part of his exile in Dapitan, Rizal lived at the commandant’s residence. With his prize from the Manila Lottery and his earnings as a farmer and a merchant, he bought a piece of land near the shore of Talisay near Dapitan.

Furthermore, as a pistolero, he was a sharpshooter wherein he could hit a target 20 meters away. As a fencer, he did it with Europeans and with Juan Luna and other Filipino friends in Europe. Spain was the European country where Rizal became interested as a pistolero and a fencer. As a chess player, he played and beat several German and European friends and acquaintances. He learned jujitsu or judo when he traveled to Japan

Last slide……. Rizal harnessed and developed them to improve his knowledge, skills and talents which he used not only for himself but shared them with other people. Perhaps, all of us can do the same.
