Abstract
This paper analyzes 3 communication scenarios for usage of most effective method within the circumstances. The analysis takes into consideration, location, available time, security, and Channel richness, to make proper judgment. Moreover a need for upstream or downstream mode of communication is kept in the view
Scenario 1
Communication Channel - with team
In this scenario, oral communication is the best primary channel. It must be conducted as a group discussion. This way the responses can be received in a minimal time.
Reasons
This is important because there is only a week to develop a strategy. (The assumption: the entire team is available for group discussion, regardless of their location through phone or video conferencing. Any other communication channels like written communication (e-mails), has some drawbacks such as misinterpretation, lack of built-in feedback and time consuming nature of an e-mail. There is no assurance whether the e-mail is received and read by all recipients. Oral communication allows receiver to respond quickly to any discussions.
Communication Channel -with VP
The conclusions of these conversations should be relayed to vice-president orally, possibly with a face to face conversation. The reason is, the time is not sufficient to prepare official documents or presentations which may get circulated prematurely.
Scenario 2
Communication Channel with offsite IT
In this scenario, unable to login to a computer application can be a major impact to the business could possibly lead to business interruption and inconvenience to clients. This is an emergency situation which needs immediate attention and can be accomplished only by oral communication, a phone call.
