Wikinomics the art or science of collaboration. It describes the power of mass internet-fueled collaboration and how to use them in the organization. Basically the author talks about 7 models of mass collaboration and 4 principles that power them-openning, sharing, peering, and going global.

Through reading the book, I learnt about the general trend in open and collaborative economy. The nature of collaboration and rapid economics activities is indisputable, the book gives us an insight into what sources are driving this change and the effect of it. For instance, throughout the book, I learned that the real advantage of global sourcing is not cost saving but endless possibilities for growth and innovation.

It is valuable book for someone who wants to find out why applying old business techniques to the Internet will not work. In order to succeed, companies need to embrace openness and finds way they can leverage the changes to create win-win situation.

I recommend you to read the book for the following reason:

The book details many interesting examples of wikinomics such as MIT’s free open course ware , Linux system or scientists have taken part in global project to identify the sequence of human DNA. Proctor & Gamble sources 35% or new products and services from global R&D communities or Innocentive where scientists solve R&D problems for cash reward. Or Boeing adopts an innovative and lean management by peering with Logo, Chinese motorcycle industry. I encourage you to read this book to get valuable inspiration for your own business.
