Introduction

The University of Phoenix emphasizes the learning team as the essential workplace in a classroom. The learning team is incorporated into the experience of every student and faculty at the University of Phoenix. The function of team learning focuses on the development of students as valuable members and leaders of a team. The learning team promotes academic and technical knowledge, provides justification and a place to discover new ideas, and enhances skills in teamwork, negotiation, and cooperation. This paper will analyze how a learning team can become a high performance team, the evaluation of the business and ethical considerations of globalization, and how it affects the learning team dynamics.

Analysis of how a learning team becomes a high performance team

Power and influence is a great start towards a high performing learning team. “Power is the ability to make things happen or get things done the way the group wants to pursue” (Schermerhorn, Hunt & Osborn, 2008, p. 214). The power the learning team at the University of Phoenix allows a cohesive group to form and the ability to accomplish a project, essay, or presentation. The learning team lets the members of the group to use real work experience to drive success. Power in the learning team sets the expectations and direction in which the group wants to go. “Influence is a behavioral response to the exercise of power” (Schermerhorn, Hunt & Osborn, 2008, p. 214). The influence of the person in the group has on each of the team members is what drives the group. This allows motivation and a sense of direction of what the learning team wants to pursue. A high performing learning team starts with power and influence. The power and influence on each individual in the group sets the expectations and motivation. Learning teams performing at a high level with power and influence leads to a high performing team to reach its goal and potential.
