Summary

The Article What does Jobs' absence mean for the future of Apple? Examines the impact Steve Jobs has on the Apple Corporation. The chief executive officer (CEO) is the leader of a corporation and elected by a corporation’s board of directors. The CEO is the president of the company, meaning that he or she obtains most of the responsibility of managing the corporation. When analyzing the investment risk of a corporation the upper management is one of the main entities that cause a company to have more or less risk. Currently in the Apple Corporation, Steve Jobs has become ill with cancer, causing the corporation to become slightly unstable. Although, he is still very much involved in the company, the remaining member of the upper management must kick into high gear in order to maintain a positive public outlook of the company.

Another issue with the Apple management team is that they have been able to hint at new innovations for the last decade. First, it was the iPod, then they came out with the iPhone, and finally they came out with the iPad tablet. The company had been able to utilize anticipation of the next step in technology for the first part of the twenty first century, but now it would seem that the research and development department hasn’t come out with any innovative technology to keep the public interested. It is currently only variations of current technology that they are able to release. Because of this the, company has been creating some rumors about the company expanding into online music and video networks by the creation of large data management center in North Carolina. Although this could bring Apple into the service industry, the public may not be in favor of the new music and video subscriptions because Apple has been a leader in the electronic gadget industry, and has been able to diversify their products so much that it has, at times, had a monopolies atmosphere during the release of their greatest new products.
