Trough-out history negotiations have been built on trust of each party.  Ethics is the study of morality and has to do with an individuals ones morals.  Having great ethics and values will not always determine if a person is fair and trustworthy during the negotiation process. This paper will discuss five important elements of a negotiation process and how it relates to ethics. The first one will identify ethical systems that may guide the parties to a negotiation. The second one will determine the substantive fairness of the negotiation. The third one will discuss how to ensure the procedural fairness of the negotiation. The fourth one will discuss how to distinguish between concealment behaviors in negotiations that are ethical and those that are unethical among the parties in the negotiation. Lastly the fifth will describe how the parties can learn to create trust in a one-shot negotiation and in a long-term negotiation relationship.

There are three ethical systems and they are Aristotle Theory, Kant Theory, and the Mill Theory.
