Legalizing Gambling To Create Jobs
John woke bright and early this morning as he has done every day since he got laid off from the manufacturing plant he worked in. He went outside to his front stoop to retrieve his daily paper as he has done every other day and immediately opened up to the classifieds, they entirety of the wanted ads covered less than a half of page and most were in the medical field. After drinking a cup of coffee he went to his computer and checked the internet bulletin boards, once again he was met with dismay. Many residents are waking up to start their day the same way as John, with little to no hope of finding a job in the current economy. Something has to be done to help but residents back to work this is why we should legalize casino gambling to create jobs and help put people back to work.
Most anyone who has ever seen a movie, television show or read a book that highlighted casino gambling in cities such as Las Vegas or Atlantic City can see there is a large number of people are attracted to these type of resorts and travel to these destinations hoping to strike it rich. For cities like these to play host to the millions of people who visit each year, they require a steady workforce to keep the casinos running and the guests happy. In 2010 the Las Vegas strip hotels and casinos with revenue of over 1 million dollars employed approximately 100,000 people across the gaming, hospitality, food & beverage, support and management positions in the hotels (UNLV Center for Gaming Research, 2011). While Volusia County Florida is already home to the world famous Daytona Beach and a popular tourist destination, the introduction of casino gambling could help to attract a larger number of tourists with the intent of trying their luck at the casino, which in turn would require a larger support staff to support the...
