Owning a home has three major benefits such as stable housing costs, equity, and it’s yours. Have you ever meet someone who is proud to own their home? Well they have good reason to be proud. Owning a home gives someone the sense of accomplishment.

Benefits can make a great difference in the decision to rent or buy. Stable housing cost is one of many benefits. You don’t have to worry about an unsuspected change in rent. Whereas, if you were to rent a home the landlord could raise your rent at any time. Equity is also another major benefit. The longer the house is owned the more value it has. When you rent a home you don’t get equity, the landlord does. The last benefit I will talk about is freedom. You own the house and can do whatever you want to do to it. While renting a home you must follow the owner’s rules; there is no freedom.

Owning a house gives people the sense of accomplishment. For example when you were a kid you probably dreamed about what your life was going to be like; a great job, a wonderful wife/husband, kids, and a beautiful house. Although they might not come in that order you still want to live your dream. Buying a house gets you one more step closer to what you’ve been dreaming of your whole life. When renting a home you don’t get one step closer, you put yourself behind. While renting a house you might as well be throwing good earned money into someone else’s pocket. Renting a house doesn’t have any long term advantages; you can’t remodel to make it bigger, and you can’t stay in it until your kids grow up. When renting a house the owner can evict you at any time for any reason.

When talking to friends and family they do too agree that buying a home is better than renting a home. I had my aunt say “it’s nice to hang your hat on your own hook.” I can agree with her statement.
