Introduction
Business Capstone 301 is a wholly a new type of unit that has
different work demands than the previous units I had before. Plus, 65% of the
total assessment is group work based, which I usually wish I could avoid.
Before the course commence, I was even made more nervous when the tutor inform
us that we are not allowed to choose our group members and that each group will
consists of members from different majors. It became a concern to me as having
a cohesive group is essential in ensuring a successful outcome of a group work.
This report is a documentation of my collaboration and contribution towards
group effort throughout the course also to reflect upon my self-assessment as a
group member thus improving myself in preparation for a better performance in
the future.
My Collaboration
On the day the group members’ list is posted, I became concerned as
I do not know two of the other members in my group. The reason why I became
paranoid when it comes to group work is because I had quite few experience
working with group mates who are not cohesive as a group; either we do not
share the same goal or it is hard to communicate effectively.
Nonetheless, all that negative feeling on my group mates soon fades after we
sit down and agree upon certain conditions as per written in the group
contract. For example, we agree that everyone must punctually attend all
meeting and be well prepared for the discussion. Also,老人手机, we endeavor to be the
market leader in the group simulation round, which in the end, we actually did.
In addition to the tense I had on the group members’ issue initially,
understanding the CapSim game was another predicament for me. The Simulation
Game is very confusing as we do not have a clear direction of where we are
going and how to get there. We only have a PDF file which serves as a manual
provided to us, and the rest of the substance are pretty much to be learnt by
