A time when I had to test a theory was when I was in elementary school. I test a theory of which paper towel was the strongest. So I use three different paper towel brands, which was the most popular ones use then like bounty, Scott, and brawny. So to find out which one of the paper towels are the strongest, first I took two chairs, for each paper towel, backs to each other about foot apart, and taped a Scott paper towel across the top of the first set of chairs, a bounty paper towel across another set of chairs, and a brawny paper towel across the last set of chairs. Then I took a cup of water and pour it on the Scott paper towel first, then a cup of water for the bounty paper towel next, and last I poured a cup of water on the brawny paper. After I poured the water on the paper towels, I placed a pencil that was not sharpening on each paper towel that was wet from the cup of water. Then I kept adding pencils to each paper towel to see which one could hold the most pencils. The one that could hold the most pencils without falling through was bounty. So bounty is the strongest paper towel. The type of informal research method that I used was hands on and television commercials. My research method was similar too psychologists because they run a series of test to determine the results that they are looking for. So if they were testing the paper towel theory they would probably do something similar to what I did. If I was given another opportunity to retest my theory, I would not change a thing. I believe the way I test my theory is a good way to find out which paper towel is the strongest and I did find that out.
