Denmark, the producer of Carlsberg beer, has a population of 5.4 million people, its major currency is the Krone and its official language is Danish. Demark is ruled by a constitutional monarchy. Demark is a full member of the European Union however did not join the European Monetary Union. The location of Demark makes it one of the most prosperous countries in the European Union. Australia has a trade relationship with Denmark and exports to Australia of $A200 million per annum made up of Manufacturing, Meat (Bovine), Coal and alcohol. Danish business people like to have all meetings arranged in advance. Business decisions are made by consensus and it is rare that a decision will be made on the spot. If pressure is applied for a decision to be made when conducting business it is not looked upon favourably. The Danish also like to entertain at home and it is customary to present the hosts with a small gift. Danes have five weeks leave and emphasis is placed on prioritising their leisure time. Their annual leave is generally between the months of June to August. Business and travel to Denmark during this time is not recommended as meetings and appointments are difficult to arrange.

When trading with Denmark countries correspond with the European Union Commission. Demark also impose product specifications that need to be met. Specific labelling and approval documentation must be met. Denmark has restrictions on the packaging of imported items. Items must not be packed in straw or hay and all containers must be clearly marked with the country of origin, weight in metric for all large items over 1 tonne, also the exporters mark.
