* Creating a new coordinating position between the CEO and the location managers would help the business grow because it would allow Dalman to invest more of his time into his new ideas. Currently, all his time is being consumed assisting the location managers when he could be exploring his other strategies to expand his business.

* I don’t believe that promoting an existing manager would be a good idea, since he has to spend most of his time assisting them. I feel that hiring outside his the workplace would be a better option, that way he can screen prospects and hire the best fit for the position. Since it is not an entry-level position, he will have better applicants then if it were a minimum wage position (meaning that Dalman can be picky when choosing applicants, unlike McDonalds or Burger King employees).

* Both owners should be making the decision on who they select for the position. I would recommend that they make a list of characteristics that they need an applicant to have; this would make it easier when they have the applicants sitting in front of them, during an interview. Once they narrow down the applicants, then they could talk amongst themselves to see who they believe to be the best fit for the position that needs to be filled.

* The levels of authority that the Sandwich Blitz, Inc. would have if the new position would be filled would be to tell, sell, consult, join, advise, confirm and delegate. Make your decision, announce it to everyone, then “sell your idea to them” (give them your punch line), then ask them their opinion before making your decision (even if you already have), join your workers in conversation (make it open-ended), tell your workers your opinion, but leave it up to them to decide—let your team decide first and if it’s different from what you want, then try to persuade them lightly into your direction, then leave the decision up to your team.
