Comment on the speech given by Steve Jobs at Stanford University

Part 1:

It’s amazing to see someone go away from the traditional pattern and actually do something worthwhile with his life, and I think that what this man has done is admirable. The thing is that being successful in life isn’t only about getting away from the main road; it takes making choices and finding ways to keep learning. With or without college education, it’s possible to be the one who makes the difference. All it takes is an immense amount of patience, creativity and love for what you do.

Part 2:

I guess the message on the second story would be not to get hung up on our failures, instead we must learn from them. Besides when one door closes, another one opens. The point is finding something you really love to do, that will give you the strength to start over. Anyway I’m a Pixar fan and I’m really glad that he got to create a company which made amazing movies after he got fired from Apple, although the guys who fired him must have felt really stupid. Something I found really nice was the fact that such a successful person talks so nicely about his wife. That proves that it’s possible to have an awesome job and a personal life.

Part 3:

I think the issue with death is really delicate, and it should be handled with extreme caution. Thinking every day that you are going to die can turn your life into something depressing. I think it’s better to live your life at its fullest, for the sake of life itself, and to figure out a way to make a difference, to leave something for the future generations. That doesn’t mean it’s going to be easier to say your goodbyes, certainly almost no one wants to die, but if you do your best you won’t feel empty.
