Education plays a vital role in my life. The decision to pursue an MBA degree was based on career advancement and salary wages. Besides providing me with the means to make money, it also shapes my personality. I plan to earn a mid level job and ultimately progress to Vice President or higher based on the skills and knowledge I receive from the masters program. Advancement for some people means climbing the corporate ladder and that is why I plan on excelling in the MBA program so that I can earn a better ranking in the company that I currently work for. After completion of the program I plan to apply all the skills and knowledge learned in the program to my current position and advance to a challenging position within the company.

The results from the personality test state that I work better in jobs that are routine and rely on speed rather than creativity for success (Personality Test, Prentice Hall Online). Education background has a great influence on my personality. Before completing a bachelor’s degree in Business Management at Tennessee State University I worked for Sam’s Wholesale Club as a cashier. Post graduation is was offered supervisor position and worked in that position for 3 years. I learned many ways to supervise and handle cashiers, but I realized that if I wanted to move up with the company earning a MBA degree would better my chances to earn a upper management level position. I wanted to continue with higher education so I was encouraged by many to pursue a master’s degree.

Salary is one of the primary reasons that I made the decision to go back to school. By earning an MBA, I will acquire managerial skills which will set me apart from others in the same field. Salaries tend to be higher in areas with high living costs and lower where it's cheaper to live.
