Engineers have contributed more to the public health of mankind than medical doctors

Why do we say that engineers have contributed more to public health than medical doctors? For one thing, these are two different professions. It’s like milk and coffee, water and oil, sweet and sour, and so many other obvious different things. But even so, engineers have something common to doctors. Engineers can also create things better so that doctors can work better. It is a fact that without engineers, doctors could not perform. Let us cite some of those facts.

As a profession, engineering is the practical application of science and math to solve 

problems, and it is everywhere in the world around us. From the start to the end of each day, engineering technologies improve the ways that we communicate, work, travel, health, and entertainment. 

On the other hand, medical doctors or physician is a health care provider who practices the profession of medicine which is concerned with promoting, maintaining or restoring human health through the study, diagnosis, and treatment of disease, injury and other physical and mental impairments.

As far back in time as one can ascertain, men have lived in communities and have to deal with health problems arising from biological and environment circumstances. Medical doctors and other health professionals focuses their major areas of concern on the provision of enough safe food and water; control of the physical environment; the prevention or control of epidemic and endemic diseases; the provision of health care; and the relief of physical and social disability. But how do doctors work on to achieve these things without equipment and facilities?

The field of engineering has become so diverse in recent years that a definition is not easy to come by. Yes, engineers still build skyscrapers, design machinery, and oversee public works but that's only the beginning. They also address society's needs and problems on a number of other...
