Cheeseman (2010) defines international law as a law that governs the affairs between nations, which governs transactions between individuals and companies from different countries. From Riordan Manufacturing does business with Puerto Rico, where there are possibilities inclined to international legal issues. The managers should be knowledgeable about policies and regulations of the countries they do business. The company must comply with the laws regarding the manufacture of plastic fans. All exports of the United States must be documented by the Export Administration Regulations and must be cleared by customs. Exports also may require the license. The managers should ensure that contracts are clear, unambiguous, concise, and easy to read and understand. If the company is violating any of these laws will be fined. The managers must educate their employees about these laws so that there are no violations. This will help in preventing violation of laws. The contracts should be reviewed periodically to ensure clarity. The legal counsel should be taken to obtain information about the law and the potential areas of litigation.

Riordan Manufacturing must comply with federal and local law by doing business in Puerto Rico. Comply with local law includes properly registration of the company in order to do business in PR, follow labor laws and provide employees with the required benefits, disclosure of financial information and payment of taxes among others. There will three signing officers authorized represent and to do business on behalf of the company locally, this includes sign contracts, represent the company in different forums and response in case of legal claims.
