Wal-Mart’s are a multimillion dollar stores some of which are open 24 hours. A brief description of the actual Wal-Mart facility would be. The Store Manager many times is accountable for a team of about 450 hourly associates, and up to 16 department managers, about 5 zone managers, 18 assistant managers and 4 Co Managers. Many store managers are motivated by the deep love they have for Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart in orientations teach that many salaried managers didn’t start at the level they are in now many started from hourly employees.
In a traditional Store Managers career path in earlier years they spend time as an Assistant Manager and Co Manager which promotes to Store Manager this usually takes 3+ years. A Co Mgr’s job is even harder being in charge of all of the assistant’s making sure their departments are running well and being an effective teacher as well as watching over the well being of your hourly associates. These achievements are no so easily obtained being the number one retailer employing thousands of managers. A person has to stand out amongst their peers to achieve such grandeur. They are usually driven by affiliation which is key to standing out in a major company. If you align yourself with the correct mentors you can go all the way. A person strives for more power influences their success. To be a manager a person must be and effective leader, motivator and a teacher. In this paper recruiting, interviewing and competency based questioning will be explained mostly in reference to Wal-Mart and other major retailers.
The organization’s top HR executives for Wal-Mart US must meet together to discuss the years budget for salaries and wages.
