Module 01- Case Assignment

Many people consider joining the military at some point in their lives. A great number fantasize about being a solider. Everyone enlists for different reasons. In my opinion about 90% of people who join or consider joining, is looking for some type of stability. Whether it’s financial stability, housing stability, or work stability that 90% is looking for something stable. I myself have been in the Army reserves for what will be four years next month (28 June) and I have met and discussed this topic with lots of soldiers. The military offers lots of great benefits but demands even more. Like most soldiers, I didn’t have much knowledge of how things really work in the army. For this reason I feel it is my duty to explain the good and bad sides of the army reserve, from my prospective of course.

From active military to reserve military to military civilian workers I’ve had the privilege to chat with them all and the one thing they all have in common is the fact that although they may have all found the stability they were looking for, the military is not what they expected it to be. Don’t misjudge me on this; the military has a lot to offer. Not everything about it is horrible. Everyone’s experience differs. Mine hasn’t been the best but as I learn more I’ve realized how to better my career in the army. Like most reservists, I enlisted to get help with school. Well that and I wanted a uniform; I know not the best reason to enter into such a commitment but that was one of my reasons. Right now I’m going to explain some things, negative and positive, that one should take into mind when considering a military career.
