The first question that came to my mind was, “What is an Action Research Project?” An Action Research Project is a project based on the “methodology which has the dual aims of action and research...
* action to bring about change in some community or organization or program
* research to increase understanding on the part of the researcher or the client, or both” (Dick, 1993).
After reading the definition, I was enlightened by the information that I read but I still was not ready to get started with my research because I still needed more information. I had to do some more reading before I could fully understand what was expected of me. It takes a great deal of planning before any type of action takes place. “Action research lends itself to use in work or community situations. Action research is usually participative” (Dick, 1993).
The planning stage or proposal comes before the actual researching and writing. There should be a clear description of what the researcher is planning to study. The subject or plan should be laid out clearly and precisely so everyone will be able to see and understand the clear picture. The objectives and goals should be laid out for everyone to see. The problem and the importance of the subject should be described clearly for easy understanding by everyone involved or interested. As a matter of fact, the entire project should be explained in a manner that anyone would understand.
After I researched and read the material, I concluded that the purpose of an Action Research Project is to help me do a better job in my chosen profession. If my Action Research Project helps someone else in his or her career then...
