Ethical and Moral Issues in Business

Ethics and morals surround people in their everyday lives. People grow up with high-quality parents and are less fortunate to learn the basic values and beliefs of life, such as morals and ethics. These two words seem closely related and is commonly mistaken for their true meanings. Differences between ethical and moral issues will be discussed reflecting the business world. People frequently misguide the differences between personal ethics, and business ethics, this essay will define those differences. Specific examples will be elaborated for moral and ethical issues as well as common ethical problems between personal ethics and business ethics.

Ethic Issues and Moral Issues

Morals define one is personal character on life, whereas ethics depicts and surrounds itself on a social system accomplished by society. Although ethics can relate to the function of morality, it is commonly mistaken for its definition. Ethics are relative to peers, communities, professions, society, countries, and nations (Buzzle.com, 2012, Para. 6). Morals are dependent on a person is choice or personal beliefs. This can include religion, values, personal beliefs, and knowing the difference between right and wrong. A perfect example of this idea in Canada is: abortions are legal and therefore permissible and ethical, but many people find this morally erroneous. To conclude, "Morals define personal character, while ethics stress social systems in which those morals are applied" (Wisegeek.com, 2011, Para. 1).

Personal Ethics and Business Ethics
