Graph 1: Activity-on Node Network Diagram
The blue words represent special activities and its duration. Red arrow means the Critical Path. Green arrow means non-Critical activities. Red flag means the end of the project. The graph is drawn by ccproject, which is a professional software in dealing with project schedule management.
2). Timing of Activities
Esj=max (Efi)
Efj=Esj+tj
Lfj=min (Lfk)
Lsj= Lfj+tj
Tsj= Lsj-Esj= Lfj-Efj
Note: Es: earliest start time; Ef: earliest finish time; Lf: Latest start time; Ls: Latest finish time; Ts: Total float time. j: activity which are determined to be calculated. i: predecessor/s of activity j; k: successor/s of activity j. t: activity duration
Calculate result:

3). Project Duration and Critical Path
Assuming that the expect time of completion equals to the real time of completion, then the project duration is 83 working days. And the critical activities include: A, E, F, G, H, I, K, L, M, N, P and Q, as the total float time are zero. That means any single activity in the group can affect the project duration even it changed a little (Field & Keller, 2007). This kind of effect is significant.
4). Date Description
MS Project 2003 is used in solving this problem (Uyttewaal, 2001).
Conditions setting:
• Earliest start data of Activity A is Monday 21 February 2011.
• Working time is 5 day per week (from Monday to Friday).
Result: Earliest...
