I would like to express my concerns over wasting our natural resources and the importance of conserving energy to the rest of the homeowner’s society. Our residence, as well as our entire population, is using excessive amounts of energy which is having a dramatic impact on our planet’s natural resources. Since our population is growing at an alarming rate, our energy providers are struggling to meet the energy demands of the population. We are also exhausting the very resources we need to produce the energy we need and want. We must begin to take steps to conserve what we have for our very future.
To understand why conserving energy is so important and necessary, we must first describe the energy resources we use and where they come from. The resources we use for our energy needs, comes from one of two types of energy resources known as renewable and non-renewable resources. The first source being renewable, are resources that are constantly being replenished and are in infinite amounts. For example, solar power, (energy from our sun), is becoming a common source of electricity for homes, businesses, and other facilities. While these facilities are using solar power; the sun, itself, is generating more energy every second and it is highly unlikely the energy will run out. The second type of energy resource is non-renewable. Resources of this type do not replenish themselves and are only in certain amounts. For example; the oil we use to power our vehicles among other things was created by organic organisms that died and decayed over millions of years ago. With this being said, it would take several years to replenish, and at the rate we use oil today; it could not replenish itself to meet our demands. Since resources such as oil, natural gas, and/or radioactive minerals appear...
