There is a woman I know who, at my age of eighteen, was already a mother of a two-year-old and working towards getting a bachelor’s degree in dentistry at the University of Alabama in Birmingham . Through struggling with an infant at a vulnerable and crucial point in her life and managing how to get by on a meager salary, she grew stronger as a person and learned a great lesson in work ethic. She matured a lot more than most eighteen year olds and learned the value of hard work and perseverance. Now a mother of three and married to her husband for twenty-six years, she continues to implement what she learned to not only her family, but to every single person that she meets. This incredible woman is my mother. Her patience and determination runs through my blood. She is the zenith of my life, the one who I admire. Her story pushes me to work harder every day and to reach for my goals no matter what it takes. I reflect on my mother’s past as I plan my college and post-college years.

My love for performing had flown to new heights as I reach the end of my high school career. Through countless home videos I have produced, directed, and written for school projects and for fun, I realized that my true passion lies in film. In addition, theater and forensics gave me an outlet in which I can creatively pour a portion of myself into a piece and perform it for a vast variety of audiences. Therefore, I plan to major in Telecommunications in Film with a track in Media Production. I want to develop my passion for film and to continue to create unique works with a more educated background. Aside from acting and motion picture, music is a big part of my life. As a self-taught guitarist hungry to find an audience for my music, I wish to perform my songs in Tuscaloosa and its surrounding cities at various clubs, bars, and events.
