Roles in Human Resources
Human resources can be thought as being the back bone of an organization. Human Resources involves many levels regarding employee recruitment and satisfaction. There are three main roles of the Human Resources Department. The roles are recruitment, improvement, and planning.
In the current economy job seekers are the majority. When a company announces they are hiring they are inundated with resumes and applications. It is impossible for a organization manager, whom is just one person, to evaluate all of the applicants. The human resource team is responsible for selecting the most skillful and competent person or persons and sending their resume and application to the organization manager. Because of the human resource team the amount of time spent on looking at under qualified applicants is cut significantly. It is ultimately up to the organization manager on who is hired (Bhogria, 2010).
Improving employee morale is a key component to keeping the organizational retention rate high. The cost to hire an individual is very high. The training of the new staff member contributes to these costs significantly. Human resources is responsible for improving employee morale and creating compensation packages. An organizations compensation package consists of insurance benefits, discounts, and rewards. Contracting with insurance companies and obtaining the lowest cost with highest quality is a responsibility of the human resources department. Employee rewards for quality work, staying healthy and safe is a responsibility of the human resource department (Luis R. Gomez-Mejia, 2010).
Lastly, planning in the organization is a role of the human resource department. Throughout the year there are many instances of workshops, meetings, and seminars. It is a responsibility of the human resource department to plan and execute these events. For...
