In today’s world it has become a bigger obstacle to control criminals and prevent harm from happening to innocent bystanders, that’s why I feel like law enforcement needs new technology to combat the ever growing population of criminals. Law enforcement has evolved though just like everything else that has been here for any given amount of time. Two of the biggest advancements for law enforcement have been the stun gun and the innovation of patrol car video surveillance. There are two sides to the argument however and many argue that stun guns are unnecessary and inhumane. As viewpoints grow it is important to fully understand the new technology and use it as needed and there are many cases where a stun gun has diffused a situation that could have been much worse.
A stun gun is an electroshock weapon that uses electro-muscular disruption technology that shocks the individual and makes their muscles quit working. The stun gun was invented to be a non deadly alternative to more lethal weapons. There have been some cases where stuns guns have caused great harm and even death to some. The problem is many of the people who are in the process of being apprehended are either on drugs or have poor health and both can be fatal when hit by a stun gun. Stun guns come in a variety of shapes and strengths based on the voltage that it contains. The most typical stun gun administers fifty thousand volts between to electrodes that make a bright blue light. The more advanced version of the stun gun can launch the two electrodes thirty five feet powered by Co2 which is used in many different objects like paintball guns. First the electrodes penetrate the target and then the shock goes into effect. The shock of this weapon will take a person and make them loose control of their muscles and not be able to move. Almost a temporary paralysis giving police officers time to hand cuff the person and take them into custody.
Another problem that has becoming increasingly...
