Functions of Management Paper

I will discuss the four function of management and how they are defined in this paper and how these functions related to my organization. At University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) many different department many managers comprises directing and controlling a group of one or more employee or entities for the purpose of coordinating and harmonizing that group towards accomplishing a goal.

There are four functions of management they are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. Many organization use the four functions of management to achieve there goals. Planning is the first functions of management it “specifying the goals to be achieved and deciding in advance the appropriate actions needed to achieve those goals." (Bateman & Snell, 2007). Working in the hospital, planning is used throughout every aspect at UAMS. For example the nurses' jobs are planned because the nurses have specific jobs duties that they need to do before the doctors even go into the see the patients. Planning is used through all of the hospital each day in the way that each job is performed. Planning is helpful because it allows for every employee to know what they are supposed to do every day and what their job title means.

We come to the second function of management is organizing. Organizing is "assembling and coordinating the human, financial, physical, informational, and other resources needed to achieve goals." (Bateman & Snell, 2007). Organizing is used a lot in my current position as a Credentialing Coordinator because I need to organize all of my paperwork and other materials.
