Play # 1

Setting: I was coming home from Berkeley, and knowing mom was home I felt really nervous. Because I was informed something from school that will cause most of the Asian families to have arguments.

Characters: Me, Mom, Our dogs Bubbles and Momo.

Time: A very hot evening in the middle of June.

Begins

Me: I’m home, mom!

Mom: How’s school?

Me: Eh… It’s ok.

Mom: Dinner will be ready in forty-five minutes.

Me: Okay, I’m going to play some games first.

(Thirty minutes later…)

Mom: Michelle!!! Bring Bubbles and Momo out for potty and feed them!

Me: …ugh…okay.

(Ten minutes later…)

Mom: Go wash your hands and we can start eating.

Me: Ok.

(After sitting down, I got nervous about how to tell mom what happened at school today.)

Me: Hmmm…. So…. I went to advisement today to make sure when my graduation date is in September.

Mom: Oh, okay. So you will right?

Me: Well… because I’ve been misunderstanding about the credits shown online.

Mom: WHAT?? SO YOU’RE TELLING ME YOU WON’T BE GRADUATING IN SEPTEMBER?????????????

Me: Okay mom, CALM DOWN!!!!!! Let me explain. The credits shown online are with the classes I registered for next quarter; but I always thought it’s without.

Mom: OH MY GOSH, Michelle!!!! WHY ARE YOU SO CARELESS?????! YOU ARE GOING TO TELL DAD YOURSELF!!!!!! I’VE TOLD ALL OUR SIBILINGS THAT YOU WILL BE GRADUATING IN SEPTEMBER, NOW HOW AM I GOING TO TELL THEM?

Me: (Sigh) …I really didn’t know… Plus I am just doing my intern from September to December, not doing any class.

Mom: But STILL!!!! You better hope you get very good intern since you are delaying it.

Me: I will try my best…

Mom: (Pointing fingers at me) Yeah, you better!!

Me: (kept my head down and just eat).

The End
