Love

Love: To feel deep, tender affection and solicitude toward (a person). When we define love its meaning is sometimes hard to describe without using the word “love”. Is love an attraction to someone or is it what is on the inside that makes us love. I fell in love three years ago with my fiancée and through those years, I learned and began to value the meaning of love.

Love is the feeling of butterflies in your stomach even after you’ve known the person for so long already. I am young and many would say I cannot possibly know what love is, but how can someone else know your feelings. I’ve always loved. My family is an “I love you” family. We say those words everyday. Love is that indescribable feeling. I often say to my fiancée “I love you more”, but than what is more than love. What one word says that you love someone more?

Love is not always what we think it is. We battle with love, trying not to fall into it because we expect to get hurt. Love always surmounts, when it is genuine. I believed love would always make you happy, but what is the feeling when you lose someone you love? You feel like that one person broke your heart and you can’t ever love again. But love always seems to find its way back. Love sometimes surprises us and we find ourselves looking into the eyes of someone we never would have imagined. Love makes us do crazy things. Love saves us.

In the Bible, 1 Corinthians, qualities of love are found, “love is patient, love is kind, love never boast…”, but still we do not find the meaning of love. People seem to make their own meaning of love up. We hear stories of abusive relationships and when we ask the abuser why they did it they respond, “Because I loved him/her”. Is that love? Love itself is being abused and for the one’s who are truly in love, the word doesn’t seem as strong as we want it to mean. I found out I was in love, the time I lost the one I love.
