Critical thinking is the process of applying deep thought to any issue using reasoning, accuracy, relevance and depth. Critical thinking is the ability to look at any issue or problem without preconceived notions so you can think clearly and cover all aspects of the issue or problem. Although many people think that we all use critical thinking but most of our first thoughts are one sided and biased. Critical thinking is necessary to think clearly with an open mind to any situation or issue that may arise. Things I have learned in this class regarding critical thinking that I was not aware of before is for one critical thinking is a self-disciplined procedure. Before starting this class I had the assumption that critical thinking was just making a hard decision and that it came naturally almost like common sense. I now know that critical thinking is something that must be applied and work on to achieve. Another significant thing I have learned about critical thinking is that mastering it is a lifelong endeavor it takes continuous practice and even then we are all subject to irrational thought. Last but not least I have also learned is that a critical thinker communicates well with others to find conclusions to complex problems. Before taking this class I thought that in order to use critical thinking I just had to step back and review the situation by myself but now I know that I can also communicate with others and get their input to develop a solution. I feel my critical thinking has changed drastically because before this course I did not fully understand the concept of critical thinking. I now feel I have a good understanding of what it takes to become a successful critical thinker and apply it in my academic, personal and professional life.
