Faculty: Professor Atul Nerkar Atul Nerkar is the Jeffrey A. Allred Distinguished Scholar and Professor in the Strategy and Entrepreneurship area of the Kenan-Flagler Business School of the University of North Carolina. He is also the Associate Dean of the Weekend and Executive MBA Programs and PhD Coordinator of the Strategy & Entrepreneurship group at UNC. Prior to joining Kenan-Flagler he was a visiting professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and on the regular faculty of the Management Division of the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University. Professor Nerkar’s research interests are in the area of technology, innovation and entrepreneurship and their linkage to firm strategy. His research has appeared in premier journals such as the Advances in Strategic Management, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Journal of Business Venturing, Management Science, Organization Science and Strategic Management Journal. He also has presented many papers at international symposia and conferences. He has or currently serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Engineering Technology and Management, IEEE Transactions in Engineering Management, Strategic Management Journal. He has been an Associate Editor at Management Science and currently serves as a Department Editor at IEEE Transactions in Engineering Management.. Professor Nerkar’s research won the McKinsey and Company best conference paper award at the Strategic Management Society Meetings at San Jose, California in 2001. At UNC, Professor Nerkar teaches elective courses in the MBA and EMBA program on strategic innovation and entrepreneurship. He also regularly teaches doctoral level courses on strategic management and innovation.
