1. What is an organization? Why do we need an organization? Please explain the unique characteristics of an organization.

Organization defined

in a broad sense, is nothing more than a collection of people who are working towards common objectives. Any organization is no better than the people that work in and for it. An organization is an artificial concept that can be created or destroyed. The most important organization in the world is the company. The company has been one of the west’s competitive advantages. Organizations facilitate innovation by bringing resources together to achieve desired outcomes and goals. The need for organizations arises because organizations are the foundation of our very being. It gives us structure on how to function in our day to day activities and helps in achieving the completion of common goals. When looking at an organization several characteristics are deemed quite obvious. First, every organization has a mission or vision for their purpose. The vision is created in the minds of the people within the organization. The vision captures how the organization should work and gives a guide as to where the organization should be in the future. It defines our role and the importance of our talent, skill to succeed in meeting our objective. By defining everyone’s role, it can maximize production efficiently in completing and meeting the group’s goal. It’s like a long chain that is connected every link has a function and there is a defective link it will make an impact on the outcome of goals. It gives us order and understanding how to function on a daily basis. Just as the mission statement guides the organizations overall purpose in society. A second characteristic is that all organizations operate according to certain values. These values which are set by the organization, guide how the people within the organizations should carry out their activities. We are surrounded by organizations.
