Abstract
In Law Enforcement, there are several different types of specialized roles and agencies. Some of them are the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), Homeland Security, K-9 Units, and SWAT officers. The FBI provides behavioral based investigative and operational support by applying case experience, research, and training to complex and time-sensitive crimes, typically involving threats of violence and terrorism. A SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) team is a unit of law enforcement officers specifically trained and equipped to work as a team to respond to critical incidents including hostage taking, barricaded suspects, snipers, terrorist acts and other high-risk incidents. K-9s are used to detect concealed suspects, drugs, weapons and explosives; find evidence discarded by fleeing suspects; control crowds ad break up fights; recover lost articles; and locate distressed persons and dead bodies. The department of Homeland Security founding purpose is to protect the United States from terroristic threats is its highest priority.
