Over the previous 5 weeks I began to monitor and analyze my morning routine to find potential wastes and bottlenecks within the process. In order to do this correctly, “it was important for all processes to be monitored and brought ‘under control’ by gathering and using data (Oakland, 2008). Using the information I collected from my ‘Morning Routine” flow chart this paper will discuss a Statistical Process Control including: the control limits including calculations and data utilized to determine them, the effect of any seasonal factors using the process performance data collected each week, and the discussion of confidence intervals and their usefulness based on the number of data points (University of Phoenix, 2010).

Statistical Process Control

Statistical Process Control (SPC) is the use of statistics to check and monitor a product during its production. It is used extensively in mass production operations profess flows. However this process can translate to my personal morning routine to ensure samples taken over time are compared to ensure process is performing as it should. If the process seems to be moving out of tolerance levels or out of control, steps can be taken to bring it back within tolerance before there is a serious problem occur. SPC is an essential element within quality management and total quality management processes (Statistical process control, 2003).

The purpose of my project was to utilize time as a measurement for my morning exercises to look at plausible methods to improve my morning efficiency and reduce stress. My mission will be to decrease the time it takes to get ready overall by reducing the time it took me to shower, brush teeth, do hair and makeup by 10 minutes.
