1. In Chapter 2 of Reframing Organizations, the authors describe four significant properties of organizations:

* Organizations are complex

* Organizations are surprising

* Organizations are deceptive

Describe the management implications associated with each of these properties (one by one) (Type answer here, using 1. Management implications associated with Organizations are complex: Bolman and Deal describe organization as being complex. That is, it is made up of people with varying thoughts and expectations. Sometimes people are hard to comprehend. Diversification and interaction of individuals with of different cultural backgrounds causes further complications in organizations

Because organization is made up of people, interaction among a diversification of individuals and groups are expected. Management must try to comprehend and motivate a wide array of people possessing different background, goals and training. This can prove to be very complicated and complex. The complexity is even more increased in larger organizations where interaction is across multiple organizations.

2. Organizations are surprising: Simply put, “expect the unexpected” Plans are made and any predictions of the impact of plans considered in reaching a decision are not entirely trustworthy. Management actions can be misinterpreted by others or may, in fact, be twisted to fit a particular model held by others.

Your expected outcome are sometimes totally different from what you had in mind as all task are subject to the interpretations of others. As an operations manager, you have to be somewhat flexible, as the solution to solve yesterday’s problem may impede getting things done today....
