• Identify any terms and/or abbreviations that were unclear to you in this week’s reading.

• Share frustrations you have encountered searching for information in online databases or on the Internet.

• Offer suggestions to help your classmates overcome difficulties they may have had conducting research in your responses to others.

During this week’s reading in Chapter 2, I was not completely familiar with the three forms of primary research which are descriptive, correlational and experimental research. I am glad that they were explained in detail to me and there were examples provided.

I was also unfamiliar with Qualitative and Quantitative research. (Sole, 2010) Primary research may be qualitative, in which researchers seek to answer questions about how people experience a given issue. Quantitative research, on the other hand, uses mathematical models, statistics, theories, or hypotheses to measure phenomena and to produce estimates of defined population groups.

While searching for information in online databases or on the internet, some frustrations I have encountered was that I tend to ask myself “Is this information true?”. That makes me do further research to find the truth.

A suggestion that would help someone overcome difficulties they may have had conducting research would be to exercise the critical thinking skills with the interpreting skill being the most important one to me because before we believe something or someone or do something, we have to question ourselves.
