Mastering a Skill

As I look over the course syllabus, I sat in front of my computer to think of a skill that most people do not have but could benefit from mastering, what would the benefit be of having the skill and what are the consequences of not having this skill.

As I sat thinking it finally dawned on me what most people should master and that skill is Computers. If we take a moment to look around, and see, how many things are computerized? I think that computer skills are one of the most important skills one can have today.

We can look around and see things are changing because of computers. Lets’ take a look at our school systems, for example; children starting from the first grade learn to use computers, today most of them are very knowledgeable of the computer concepts, what they can do, how they interact with other computers and learn how to use a printer on a single network within the schools intranet. They also, as they progress through grade levels, use laptops to prepare book report, science projects and tour library items. College student can excel by having computer skills that will allow them to study online courses, prepare essays, search items that are available to them on campuses online libraries, interact with classmates and instructors and attend classes at their convenience.

People would benefit by having computer skills to eliminate abundance of filing cabinets once used and build a filing system within their own computer. I remember when we had to venture too many different places to purchase items, now people can do this by clicking on a link while on the internet to purchase things such as; birth certificates, driving license, shop for an automobile or even furniture and not leave the comfort of their home. Other ways people could use computer skills, especially senior citizens, order prescriptions, keep in contact with family members and surf the web.
