1. What are some of the ways groups of people are identified?
There are several ways groups of people are identified. Some of these ways are race, ethnicity, religion, and gender. Racial identity relates to apparent physical differences. These physical differences can include skin color, hair texture and color, eye shape and color. In my society I realize that skin color has the most impact on determining race. This is the basis of black and white society. Of course there are many more variations than black and white skin tones. Ethnic identity encompasses cultural variances and national origin. Cultural variances are subject to language, attitudes toward moral beliefs, food choices and preparation. Spanish is a form of language used in several Latin backgrounds. With that being said the spanish spoken in Mexico is different from that spoken in South America. Some ideas tailored toward attitudes about moral beliefs are the use of contraception, the age at which marriage should take place, and how children are disciplined.
