Piracy - Research Paper

Piracy has been our country's economic problem. Last 2010, they've said that

Philippines piracy rate remained unchanged at 69 percent. It means that our country's piracy

rate remains steady in 3 years since 2007 to 2010. They've said that Philippine government

and the information technology industry will increase efforts protecting copyrights. This was

according to BSA ( Business Software Alliance ) 2010 Global Software piracy study, which

evaluates the state of software piracy around the world. There's a problem that many PC

users lack of clear understanding whether it's legal or illegal. IP Philippines, director

general Ricardo Blancaflor shared that it is a priority to create a culture that values

intellectual property and promotes innovation.

Year 2011. Finally, Philippines is not on the piracy watch list anymore. That means

there was an improvement for the government's action regarding the case. The good news

was announced by Optical Media Board Chairman Ronnie Ricketts. It was only last April 2011

that the Philippines is still on the watch list in line with movies, TV, music, and software

piracy. They've said that the anti-piracy campaign nationwide had a lot to do with the

eventual removal of the Philippines from the list.

You can see with this summarized two articles that there's still a way with our current

economic problems like piracy. We can see that past year 2007 to 2010 that there was no

changes done. It's simply because the government didn't give attention regarding our

country's piracy rate. We can see that on year 2010, our government give attention to this

case. Finally, there's been changes done. Late year 2011, our country is not on the piracy

watch list anymore. For me, in order to make changes on things to make it right is we need

innovation and actions regarding those things. We can see that if we make actions, whether

the result will be good or bad, there are still changes will be done....
