Identify Four Cross-Coded Ethical Dilemmas Facing Former CIA Director George Tenet and Assess Their Impact on His Leadership Abilities
George Tenet was faced with several cross-coded ethical dilemmas such as the violation of national and international human rights. Other than this, the issue of being honest to the people within the government is also a cross-coded ethical dilemma that he faced. Moreover, serving as a go-between for Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu also proved to be an ethical concern. These ethical dilemmas impact Tenet's leadership in one way or the other such as when the CIA administrator decided to act as a go-between between the Israeli prime minister and Yasser Arafat, the members within the government did not take it in a good way despite the fact that Tenet tried to explain that nobody else could act better in that position. This threatened his leadership since the people were beginning to lack trust in his leadership.
Analyze Four Ways in Which Tenet Addressed the Prioritization of Ethical Concerns
There are various ways in which Tenet addressed the prioritization of ethical concerns. The first way was that policies at the CIA are implemented and not made.
While going as an in-between for Yasser Arafat and Israeli's prime minister, Tenet addressed the prioritization of ethical concerns saying that they were the only entity that the both sides could trust. This made the insiders distinctly uncomfortable. From the way Tenet addressed this situation, it is evident that Tenet displayed leadership qualities since he tried to make insiders understand that there was no other better way other than the one he actually carried out.
